The [I 004 / dikdik] is the smallest of the antelope species, weighing less than 10 pounds and stands about a foot tall. Its coat is drab gray and it has large bulging eyes. They habitually deposit droppings in the same spot and large quantities accumulate.
The dikdik and klipspringer are often found together at the base of kopjes. The dikdik is named for the erratic zig zag leaps it makes when startled and "zik zik" call. It is elusive and usually found in dense vegetation browsing on low shrubs. The males have short straight horns.
